Sources

Every fact comes from one of three kinds of source, and each is labeled where it appears.

  • Issuer or partner page. The card issuer's, airline's, hotel's or merchant's own pages, newsroom or press releases. This is the default.
  • Cardmember page. What the site owner's own card account shows behind a login, dated when it was read. Used when an issuer publishes a detail only to cardmembers.
  • Secondary. Other publications. They're used to find facts and to corroborate them, never as the only basis for something we call verified.

Every table shows its source and the date it was last checked. Every article lists its sources at the end, and deal and news articles must cite at least one issuer or partner page.

Confidence levels for bonuses and changes

  • Verified: an issuer or partner page, or the owner's card account, states it.
  • Likely: at least two independent publications on different websites agree, and no primary source has confirmed it yet. These are always shown as unconfirmed.
  • Conflict: sources disagree. We show each claim and use the earliest end date, so a countdown never runs past the real deadline.

End dates and times

If a source states an end time and time zone, we show it. If no source states a time, we show the date and treat the bonus as ending at 11:59 PM Eastern, the earliest end in the continental US, and we say so. Bonuses flip to "ended" on the site automatically at that moment. An ended bonus is never presented as active anywhere: pages, feeds or articles.

Valuations are opinions

Points valuations are estimates by publications, not facts. Wherever a valuation appears, we name whose it is and its date. Any analysis of whether a transfer is worth it shows the result under two published valuations (The Points Guy and Frequent Miler), and the calculator lets you use your own number. When the two disagree on a verdict, we say so plainly.

Corrections and discrepancies

When we get a number wrong, we fix it and log a correction on the changes page: the old value, the new value and the date. When sources disagree and a primary source settles it, we log the discrepancy there too, so you can see how the number was decided. All data changes are kept in version history.

How AI is used

Research, data checks and first drafts are done by AI agents (the About page describes the team). A separate agent re-checks every number and calculation against its source before anything is published, and checks the text against other publications for copied passages. Automated checks block publication if the math doesn't add up, a source is missing, an ended bonus would appear active, or a page claims an experience that didn't happen.

First-hand experience

Nothing on Window Seats Club describes a flight, stay, booking or transfer that didn't happen. Redemption write-ups come only from the site owner's own bookings, logged with the points, fees and cash price on the same date.

Volume

At most one new article goes live per day, and five per week. Updating an existing article is preferred to publishing a near-duplicate, and pages that would only repeat the data tables aren't published.

Independence

No card issuer, airline, hotel or merchant pays for coverage, reviews or approves anything here. How the site makes money is on the disclosures page.

Reusing our data

The transfer data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0, with credit to "Window Seats Club" and a link. Feeds and formats are on the data page.
